Contingency Management
Contingency Management is an evidence-based treatment model of behaviour modification theory. A key concept in Contingency Management is positive reinforcement. Providing tangible rewards for meeting goals can help “re-wire” reward pathways in our brains. Positive reward pathways help people work toward recovery, health, housing, leisure, cultural and/or spiritual goals.
Weekly meetings
Each cohort meets twice a week for 12 weeks, once in a group setting and once 1-to-1.
Goal setting
Meetings focus on setting three Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timebound (SMART) goals related to recovery from stimulant use, health, housing, leisure, culture, and spirituality.
Participants work independently on completing their weekly goals and report on their progress in group meetings. There are weekly prize draws for participants who have accomplished their goals.
Structure and content
Each week a worksheet is introduced and discussed. Topics include SMART goal setting, wellness wheel, self-care, overdose prevention, budgeting, dealing with uncomfortable things and self-compassion, values and gratitude, and more.
Support
Speedy goals offers peer support, including peer facilitation.
Program graduates are invited to attend biweekly alumni meetings for ongoing support.
