Our 2024 AGM - LIFT - Community Services

Our 2024 AGM

Thanks to everyone who participated at our 2024 Annual General Meeting!

ʔimot to Lynn Galligos for opening the evening for us.

We had a cozy evening at the Cranberry Seniors Centre, with dinner prepared by our Supportive Housing cook, Ira.

Ira kept to the theme of our 40th anniversary by making a classic 80’s dinner of mac and cheese with hot dogs, meatloaf, baked potatoes and salad. Rave reviews all around!

Our executive director, Kim, and board president, Maggie, presented to a full room, sharing highlights from the last fiscal year, including:

  • launch of qathet’s Drug Checking program
  • introduction of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training for our staff

For more information on our programming and impact from the last year, check out our 2024 Annual Report.

Our auditors, DMD Chartered Professional Accountants presented our 2023-2024 audited financial statements, which are now available for review on our website.

We also welcomed two new members onto our board! We’re thrilled to have Cathy Fisher and Melani Williams join our Board of Directors. Click here to see the full team.

We wrapped up our 40th Anniversary fundraising campaign for the Powell River Food Bank with a silent auction featuring lots of goodies from local businesses. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and auction bidders, we’re very happy to say that we’ve raised $1,178 for our valued community partner. Thanks to everyone who supported our efforts!

The evening closed with an appreciation and send off to our long-time manager, Kathryn Colby, who is moving on to an exciting opportunity with the Tamarack Institute. Thank you to Lynn, Courtenay and Marlane for holding space and acknowledgement of Kathryn’s many, many contributions to Lift and the whole community over the past 6+ years. It was a very moving and bittersweet end to the evening.

Thanks to everyone who came out! We have more events coming up soon – subscribe to our newsletter to stay in the loop!
