Believe it or not, Lift turns 40 this year!
We were founded as Powell River Employment Programs (PREP) Society back in 1984 by a small group of local women who wanted to increase local employment opportunities for women in qathet Region. In fact, that was our first program: Work Opportunities for Women!
From there, our programming expanded into mental health supports, parenting support, and child and youth programs. Today we offer over a dozen programs in qathet Region – from employment services and family supports, to housing and community health and more. We’ve always been by community, for community, and as community needs have evolved so have we!
