Melani Williams

I am originally from Manitoba and moved to BC in 1995, living until January 2024 in the TriCities. When I am not working, I love to cook, bake, and wander in the woods.

I worked at the Coquitlam Public Library for 20 years, enjoying working with others to build a diverse library collection and create an inclusive and welcoming space. I now work at the Powell River Public Library as Assistant Chief Librarian.

When I moved to Powell River I learned that qathet meant working together. As someone who is new to the Sunshine Coast, a sense of belonging and connection is really important to me and discovering a community that embraces the concept of working together really resonated. When I learned about all of the many ways Lift was supporting the community, I really wanted to be a part of it.

I am really excited to join the board and work with the amazing people at Lift.

We live and work on the homelands and territories of the Tla’amin People. We honour the land, the Tla’amin People, and their treaty and continually seek to strengthen our relationship and responsibilities to them as guests in the territory.
