Please note that this program operates on a referral basis and a completed referral form from an eligible organization is required for your application to be considered. 

Application Process

1. Determine your eligibility (pages 1 – 2)

2. Complete Referral Form (pages 7 – 9) 

This program works on a referral basis. You must have a completed Referral Form from an eligible organization for your application to be considered.
 

3. Collect supporting documents (page 10)

  • Identification for each household member 19 and over
  • Proof of income
  • Proof of rent
  • Bank Information for Director Deposit


4. Submit application

Referring organizations can submit applications one of three ways:

In-person:
The Community Resource Centre (4752 Joyce Ave.), open Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Please submit your application in a clearly marked envelope. 


We review applications on a first come, first served basis to determine eligibility. 
 

If you meet the eligibility criteria and there is a benefit available, we will add you to the BC Housing database to determine the official subsidy amount and generate an official Canada-British Columbia Housing Benefit application form. Once signed and returned, direct deposit will be set up and the housing benefit year will start.  

If no housing benefits are available at the time of application, we will add you to a waitlist for future consideration. Individuals on the waitlist are asked to contact us every January if they wish to stay on the waitlist for the coming year.
