We have a new Executive Director! Our board of directors has hired Lift’s own Kim Markel for the position.
Our board worked with an external recruiter to solicit applications from across the province. “In the end,” our board president Maggie Hathaway says, “Kim’s past experience and insider knowledge of Lift gave her a strong advantage over the external candidates we interviewed.”
Kim joined Lift as the Director of Programs in April 2023, overseeing our community health, housing, community support, and employment programs. Prior to Lift, Kim worked as an acute care manger at qathet General Hospital and program manager at Bella Coola hospital. Kim brings two decades of clinical and leadership experience in housing, harm reduction, and healthcare settings to the role.
She holds a Master of Nursing in Advanced Practice leadership, and wrote her Master’s thesis on hope; a beautiful fit for Lift’s mission of working with community partners and people facing barriers to create equity and hope in the qathet Region!
Kim will be at our 40th Anniversary Fair this Saturday, June 15th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at Willingdon Beach. Come down and welcome Kim into her new role, meet our team, enjoy some food and music and learn more about our programs in community!
