List of Requirements
- Diploma in practical nursing from a recognized school of nursing.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNM).
- Education: Successful completion of Licensed Practical Nursing Program, communication skills training, basic PC skills, related field education/training, First Aid.
- Certificates: First aid
- Valid Driver’s License to operate a vehicle within BC. Local area travel may require the use of a personal vehicle.

List of Duties
- To provide an efficient, safe admissions process
- Ensuring checklists are complete, documentation is in order, and that all clients experience safe detox.
- To process medication orders, doctor orders, and medication refills, and check all incoming orders as per medication protocols and procedures.
- To provide access to medical services, including doctor appointments, blood work, lab work, and urine screens as needed.
- Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family centred model of care.
- Maintain focus on the recovery model.
- Broad knowledge of chemical dependency and a positive attitude toward chemically dependent clients and their rehabilitation.
- Broad knowledge of behaviour management and ability to utilize non-violent crisis intervention strategies.
- Broad knowledge of facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques, and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
- Demonstrated case management, teaching/training, clinical support and consultation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Willingness to support team members and provide a positive professional role model for frontline staff.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage time productively, work independently, and use a cooperative approach to program delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out the physical demands of the job.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Commitment to ongoing education/upgrade to training in the field of addiction.

SIGNING BONUS: All LPNs committing to a line will receive quarterly bonuses for the successful coverage of that line.
RELOCATION ALLOWANCE and HOUSING: For years now SCHC has provided visiting clinicians, students and fellowship members with housing to support their learning experience. When available, SCHC will support LPNs wishing to move to Powell River until such time that permanent housing has been arranged.
