Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Social justice and empathetic approach to supporting individuals and families facing barriers in community, e.g., poverty, unemployment, homelessness, substance use challenges, mental health challenges.
- Some design experience (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite Software) an asset

List of Duties
- Draft stories, web and ad copy, social media content, public presentations and more for internal and external purposes.
- Develop impact stories highlighting the positive impact of Lift’s work in community
- Assist in the maintenance of the Lift website
- Design and collaborate on Lift-created community information resources (posters, plain-language information, community guides, etc.)
- Assist with development and implementation of communications and marketing plans
- Establishing a digital photo bank/archive for media and marketing purposes
- Assist in planning, coordination, and execution of events and community outreach activities
- Help with event setup, registration, and ensuring smooth operations during events
- Support preparation and distribution of event materials
Additional Details
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Specialist supports the implementation of Lift’s communications and marketing goals to establish a strong public understanding of the organization and the issues its program addresses, and to make our programs and services known and accessible to the community.
The Communications Specialist will work collaboratively with program managers and staff, and must be dedicated to working with a lens of anti-oppression, anti-racism, and trauma-informed practice.
32 hours per week for 8-weeks
